Global Top 2% Scientists List Released: Professor Xu Honggang and Professor Li Yaoqi from the School of Tourism at Sun Yat-sen University Make the List!

Recently, Stanford University and the Elsevier Data Repository officially released the 2026 Stanford University Top 2% Scientists List. In the field of Sport, Leisure & Tourism, Professor Xu Honggang, Dean of our school, was named to both the "Career-Long Impact" and "Annual Impact" lists of the world's top 2% scientists. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Professor Xu Honggang has been included in the "Annual Impact" top 2% scientists list, while Professor Li Yaoqi has been named to the "Annual Impact" top 2% scientists list for the first time!


The Global Top 2% Scientists List is the outcome of a collaborative project between the Elsevier Data Repository and Professor John P. A. Ioannidis's team at Stanford University, and is published on the Mendeley Data website under the Elsevier Data Repository. The list is based on scores from six citation metrics, including citation counts, h-index, and hm-index, and selects the world's top 2% of scientists from nearly 7 million researchers according to "Career-Long Impact" and "Annual Impact," covering 22 fields and 176 subfields. Being included in the Global Top 2% Scientists List signifies that the scholar has considerable global influence in their research field and has made outstanding contributions to its development.
